We expect God’s plan for us to follow a straight line. Always growth, always progress, never setbacks. But God’s plan never follows a straight line. God’s ways are fantastically different and better than ours. He brings back the prodigal son. He resurrections what is by all accounts dead. The gospel is spreading by the surprising work of God.
(1) God has always been pursuing a remnant by his grace (1-10).
(2) In God’s plan, twists & turns that feel like detours actually lead to gospel advance.
(3) Be humbled (not arrogant or proud) that you have received mercy.
