500th Anniversary of the Reformation For Kids

Here at Grace Church Alexandria, we are celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation that is just around the corner–October 31, 2017. Want your kids to know and value how this period of church history recovered the gospel after centuries of spiritual darkness? So here’s an idea!

Reformation ABC’s: The People,  Places, and Ideas of the Reformation

Reformation ABC’s by one of my favorite church historians is the book to get. Stephen J. Nichols has written a fun, interest guide for kids (and adults) that for every letter of the alphabet teaches about the people, places, and ideas of the Reformation.

E Is For Edward VI

For example, E is for Edward VI. Edward was the boy-king of England who loved the good news of Jesus and pointed his subjects to Christ in a critical time in their country’s history. Sadly, he was often ill and died at a young age. Young Edward’s legacy is one reason the gospel took root so strongly in England and by extension to English-speakers like us.

A Worthy Investment

Reformation ABC’s (available here for $14.44)  is a worthy investment for families as Reformation Day approaches. Care to get a look inside? Contact me and you can borrow my copy. Also worthy to get is Stephen J. Nichols’ companion work The Church History ABC’s.

Here at Grace Church we value every participant God brings to our congregation. In 2017 we’re educating the whole congregation, young and old, about the recovery of the gospel that took place in and around 1517 through a sermon series on Romans, kids stories during worship services, and free books about the Reformation for all who come. Join us Sundays at 9:30 am for Bible Classes and 10:30 am for worship services.
