Record Response to Benefit Samuel Tucker Elementary Kids

Mission accomplished! Grace Church Alexandria has filled 40 children’s backpacks brimming with school supplies for students at Samuel Tucker Elementary School where we meet on Sundays.

This summer the church members gathered essential school supplies and backpacks as gifts to children at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary who aren’t able to start the school year with a full set of supplies. This year’s results doubled the number of carefully-filled backpacks we have provided the children of Tucker in past years.

A Note To Each Child…From a GraceKids Child

The children of GraceKids colored and personally signed 40 notes, expressing their love and welcome to each of the Tucker kids who will receive a backpack.

The school where our Christian congregation meets in part specializes in educating children for whom English is a second language. Some of the students are find language to be a barrier and are refugees or recent immigrants. Our gifts will help them start the school year on the right foot. Each backpack is filled with school supplies, including markers, crayons, spiral notebooks, scissors, a tissue box and more. Also included is gospel literature for kids and an invitation for they and their family to explore our congregation to make friends and find community.

Giving Back to Our Community

Since 2008, our congregation has met in Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School for Sunday worship services and Bible classes. We are moved with gratitude for the school’s generosity to us and desire to give back to our community. Each year we’ve undertaken projects like this, this, and this to serve the Alexandria neighborhood where we are located.
