Sermon Application for Kids

Sermons at Grace Church Alexandria aren’t geared just for adults, but also for kids! After all, “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Therefore, the preaching of God’s Word is an invitation for adults and children present to know, believe, and enjoy God.

Three Ways We Engage Children in Our Services

1. Sermon Notes For Kids

We provide several resources to help children get the most out of the sermons they hear. First, the sermon notes for kids handout is available Sundays at the Connect Banner (or here to print now) to help children follow along in the passage.  Thanks to great dad and Navy chaplain Clay Edinger for creating this!

2. Kids Moment In Sermons

Second, our sermons include a Kids Moment where our pastors speak directly to the kids in the audience. We’ll tell them a key word in the passage to be looking for, share an application just for them, or illustrate a Bible concept in a kid-friendly way.

3. Children’s Sermons

Third, periodically our lead pastor Jonathan Matías preaches a Children’s Sermon geared specifically for little ears. During the recent series in Exodus, Jonathan showed visuals and preached the sermon passage specifically for the children present.

Options For Your Child at Grace Church Alexandria

We value every soul that God brings to our worship gatherings, including the smallest and youngest. Parents–you are welcome to drop your children off in our GraceKids programs that provide intentional teaching to kids:

  • crawlers to 3-year-olds
  • 4-year-olds to 6-year-olds
  • Children’s Bible Class for 7-to-10-year-olds.

We also welcome children to see the adults around them sing, pray, and listen to God’s Word, and participate in these sacred activities themselves. Seeing adults they know and respect worshiping the Lord will help children own the Christian faith for themselves.

We will not hide them from their children
But tell to the coming generation
The glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
And the wonders that he has done.

Psalm 78:4
